Soundlapse

Soundlapse is an immersive sound installation built from Ambisonics recordings of natural soundscapes from southern Chile. The project combines perceptual research and artistic practice to examine how different listening environments shape the experience of presence, immersion, clarity, spatial stability and depth. The results informed the design of a multichannel installation presented in a museum, where the public experienced a continuous-loop composition created from coastal recordings made at Curiñanco beach.

A Queda do Céu

The sound art installation “A Queda do Céu” by André Mestre explores the acoustic features of the Valdivian wetlands and its conflicting place in the eyes of local residents. Visually, the work is reminiscent of the Arte Povera movement, and provides a minimalistic display of wetlands constitutions, with and interplay between water, reflections, and hundreds of wooden pieces. The sculptural centerpiece is framed by a spatial and aural presentation that suggests, at the same time, both a critical and an aesthetic perspective on these fragile ecosystems.
