Soundlapse to take part in the seminar ‘Prácticas sonoras, nuevas tecnologías y medioambiente’

On Tuesday 1 September 2026, the seminar Prácticas sonoras, nuevas tecnologías y medioambiente will be held at the Manuel Larrain Auditorium of the Universidad Alberto Hurtado (Av. Bernardo O’Higgins 1825, Santiago), a free event organised by the Millennium Nucleus in Music and Sound Cultures (CMUS), the Centre for Media Studies (C/EM), the Fundación Mar Adentro, the Goethe-Institut and the Laboratory of Art and Technology (LATE), at which the Soundlapse project will have a prominent presence.

The event will be structured in two blocks. The first, ‘Fourth meeting with media artists’, chaired by Daniela Fugellie (CMUS), will bring together the Berlin-based artist Paula Schopf and composer Nicolás Alvarado, who will address listening to the territory as a form of knowledge production and their work with atmospheric sounds and sound archives.

The second block, ‘Transfer projects to education’, chaired by Luz Moreno (CMUS), will include a presentation by Felipe Otondo (Universidad Austral de Chile) titled ‘From soundscape to classroom: the Soundlapse project and its creative itineraries for environmental education’. In it he will share the pedagogical itineraries developed from the Soundlapse archive and their application in educational contexts related to soundscape and conservation. The session will close with a presentation by Carla Pinochet (Universidad de Chile / CMUS), ‘The school of listening: an educational model for questioning context’.
