Soundlapse participates in a seminar on sound practices, new technologies and the environment
On Tuesday, 1 September 2026, the seminar Sound Practices, New Technologies and the Environment was held at the Manuel Larraín Auditorium of Universidad Alberto Hurtado (Av. Bernardo O’Higgins 1825, Santiago). The event was free of charge and organised by the Millennium Nucleus in Musical and Sound Cultures (CMUS), the Center for Media Studies (C/EM), Fundación Mar Adentro, the Goethe-Institut, and the Laboratory of Art and Technology (LATE), with a significant presence from the Soundlapse project.
The seminar was structured in two sessions. The first, Fourth Encounter with Media Artists, moderated by Daniela Fugellie (CMUS), brought together Berlin-based artist Paula Schopf and composer Nicolás Alvarado, who discussed listening to territory as a form of knowledge production, as well as their work with atmospheric sounds and sound archives.
The second session, Educational Outreach Projects, moderated by Luz Moreno (CMUS), included a presentation by Felipe Otondo (Universidad Austral de Chile) entitled From Soundscape to the Classroom: The Soundlapse Project and Its Creative Pathways for Environmental Education. The presentation introduced the educational pathways developed from the Soundlapse archive and their application in educational contexts related to soundscape and environmental conservation. The session concluded with a presentation by Carla Pinochet (Universidad de Chile / CMUS), entitled The School of Listening: An Educational Model for Questioning Context.
