In recent decades, technological advancements that integrate scientific and artistic research have driven the rise of immersive audio as a creative and educational tool. This growth has been facilitated by the development of binaural and multichannel audio systems, applied in media such as virtual reality, video games, and sound art.
As part of the Soundlapse project, an immersive audiovisual platform was developed, based on soundscape recordings in the Ambisonics format. This format captures three-dimensional audio, providing an immersive and realistic 360-degree sound experience. Additionally, it is compatible with various playback systems, from binaural headphones to multichannel configurations.
A key aspect of the research was the implementation of auditory tests in controlled laboratories, designed to assess the auditory perception of features such as immersion and sound source localization. This approach aims to optimize algorithms and improve the quality of immersive experiences in artistic, educational, and virtual reality applications.
Finally, the project explores the use of spatial audio technologies in educational settings and as orientation tools for visually impaired individuals. Future applications focus on environmental education, applied engineering, and gamification, offering new perspectives in the design of immersive experiences.
