Felipe Otondo Presents Soundlapse at the First Scientific Meeting in Bosque Pehuén

On 10–11 July 2026, Felipe Otondo participated in the First Scientific Meeting held at Bosque Pehuén and organised by Fundación Mar Adentro. The event brought together researchers from different disciplines to share ongoing work, strengthen research networks and discuss future collaborations related to the study and conservation of southern Chilean forests.

Otondo presented “Soundlapse and the Audible Forest: Art, Science and Environmental Education”, introducing his current Fondecyt project on the creative and educational uses of natural soundscape recordings. The presentation addressed the use of field recording, artificial intelligence and immersive audio to study forest environments and develop artistic and educational experiences.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss the importance of long-term ecological research, acoustic communities, bird diversity and the potential of Bosque Pehuén as a shared space for interdisciplinary research, training and collaboration with local organisations and communities.
